Description: A rhizomatous plant that can grow up to 40 inches tall. It has long, narrow leaves and flowers that can be white or purple with reddish dots. It grows in moist soil and shallow water. The plant provides good habitat for invertebrates, which are eaten by fish and waterfowl. It provides fish fry and fingerling cover.
Chemical Control Options: 2,4-D, fluridone or glyphosate.
Mechanical Control Options: Cutting is only temporarily effective due to rhizomatic growth.
Biological Control Options: There is not a good biological control option.
